What is Windows Mobility Center
Windows Mobility Center (WMC) is a convenient tool that groups several essential settings into a single window, including audio controls, screen brightness, battery and power schemes, and wireless network options.
By default, WMC is enabled on laptops to facilitate easier and quicker power switching, but it is not activated on desktop computers.
I frequently use WMC to quickly switch between power plans on my PC, adjusting the processor's performance to suit the current task. For example, I select High Performance for gaming, Balanced for normal use such as web browsing and watching videos, and Power Saver when idling.
How to enable Windows Mobility Center on Desktop PC
To enable Windows Mobility Center on a desktop computer, a modification to the Windows Registry is required.
Download from TenForums:
Enable_Windows_Mobility_Center.reg
Disable_Windows_Mobility_Center.reg (Default settings)
Double-click the downloaded registry file to allow modification to Windows Registry that enables the Windows Mobility Center.
Next step is to find the Windows Mobility Center.
- Open start and type "mblctr"
- right-click on it and select Open file location.
- Drag mblctr from the folder to taskbar for 'Pin to Taskbar'.

How to configure the minimum and maximum processor state
This next guide is optional if you want to stick to the default power configuration.
In the following steps, I made some changes to the CPU state to further reduce power consumption on Balance and Power Saving mode, by limiting the CPU usage or utilization.
Click start and type Power Option.
For Windows 10, search for Edit Power Plan.
Click on change plan settings and change advanced power settings. For Windows 10, click on Change advanced power settings. A window like picture below will appear.
Under Processor power management, set the minimum and maximum processor state.
Minimum processor state
- Power saver: 5%
- Balanced: 5%
- High Performance: 5%
Maximum processor state
- Power saver: 50%
- Balanced: 80%
- High performance: 100%
Click Ok to save settings. Now you may switch to your preferred power plan from WMC based on your usage.
