Why Would Anyone Not Want To Watch 60fps
I think in my opinion, there are two main reasons why someone might want to turn off 60fps:
- Old Devices: Some older phones or computers just can’t keep up with 60fps videos. This can make the video stutter or lag, which is super annoying. So, turning off 60fps can help things run smoother on those devices.
- Data Usage: Videos at 60fps use more data than those at 30fps. If someone has a limited data plan or a slow internet connection, they might want to turn off 60fps to save on data.
How to disable 60fps on Youtube
Please note that by doing this Youtube will show video quality only up to 720p for regular videos and 480p for live streams.
To block or turn off or disable 60fps, download this browser extension called Improve Youtube! (my recommendation, but if you prefer a simpler extension without extra features, scroll to the bottom).

To open Improve Youtube!, click on the Extension icon located at the top of your browser as shown in the picture.
Next, click on Player and in the next page, scroll down to find 'Allow 60fps'. Toggle this off to disable 60fps.
Alternatively, if you don't want the above extension and prefer a simpler one, check out h264ify.
Similar to previous step, open h264ify by clicking the Extension icon at the top of the browser. In h264ify, simply click the 'Block 60fps video' checkbox to enable blocking.
