Realizing and identifying the problem
Some time ago, for whatever reason, Brave browser kept logging me out of Facebook. When I looked it up online, it seemed that this issue affected other people as well.
For those who don’t know how this happens, if you close Brave browser and reopen it to go to Facebook, you will need to re-enter your login details.
Initial troubleshooting
Clearing the cache did not fix this issue. I didn’t want to reinstall Brave browser because I would have to redo all the custom settings I’ve made. This issue only occurred with Facebook, so I didn’t think reinstalling the browser was a worthwhile option.
The solution
I remembered a Facebook setting that forces your account to be signed out of all devices, so I tried that. I logged into my Facebook account only on the Brave browser and repeatedly closed and reopened Brave to see if my Facebook account was still signed in.
It seemed that this was the solution to the problem, at least for me. I no longer had to re-enter my password. My guess is that Brave needed to be the first browser I logged into my Facebook account.
How to sign out of all devices on Facebook
Warning: Please understand that if you have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) security enabled, doing this means you will need to obtain authentication code and login approval to login to Facebook on all devices.
At home timeline of Facebook, click your profile picture at the top right of the page. Navigate to this path:
- Settings & privacy, Settings, then Accounts Centre.
In Accounts Centre, select 'Password and security' then click on 'Where you're logged in'. Choose your account.
Select all devices and click 'Log out'.
After doing this, if you close and reopen Brave, it might ask you to sign in to Facebook for 1 more time.
